I play through Steam and have Windows 7 64-bit, an Intel i5 2500k, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 680, 8GB RAM and a 750w PSU. A few days ago, my game just decided to stop working. I log in and select my server, but when the game hits the screen that says things like "Obtaining character data" and "Update complete!" it shuts off and kicks me back to desktop.
I verified the integrity of the cache through Steam and it said something like 40 files were missing. I had to reinstall the entire game, and it worked fine. Then all of a sudden today it stopped working again. I turned of Windows Firewall and I was able to load the game no problem. I removed and readded all the exceptions of LotRO (lotroclient, TurbineLauncher, and TurbineInovker) and reactivated the firewall and it didn't work. I disabled the firewall and it still doesn't work now.
It doesn't seem to be an internet or hardware problem. I've connected and played Battlefield 4 all day with no problems, so I have no idea what the actual problem is.
